Short Tips To Crack SSC In First Attempt –

  1. For General Awareness section, read regular newspaper, magazines such as Competition Master, Competition Success Review or Pratiyogita Darpan. You should be absolutely familiar and opinionated on the news in the last 6 to 7 months. Grab a General Awareness book to brush up your skills before the exam.
  2. Make cards or notes for the important Mathematics formulae, tricks, news, vocabulary words. You can read these cards repeatedly anytime. You can also make sticky notes and paste it on the walls and doors of your room.
  3. Make study plans. Make a plan for each subject and execute your plan consistently. Cut important news from newspaper and paste it on the wall of your study room, you can also write on the wall or table to remember.
  4. Practice is the key, take as many mock tests as you can. It is always a good idea to attempt sample question papers and previous years’ question papers. Get the papers checked by your teacher and look for areas you need to improve. To ace the examination you need to answer fast and accurate.
  5. Analyze your weak points after taking test and discuss the questions with other aspirants. Work on your weak points and then only take another mock test or practice section wise mock test in your weak areas.
  6. Try to discuss in group with your friends. This would help you in memorizing the key points easily. Stay updated with latest websites and emails also.
  7. Solve as many questions as you can for quantitative aptitude and Reasoning. Practice is the only thing that can make you perfect for these 2 sections.
  8. Do not try to solve every question on exam; keep track of time, you need not to score 90% in exam. Cut off for CGL tier 1 exam remains in a band of 80-105 out of 200 marks exam for General category, for all other categories it is much lower. So, try doable questions first and try to answer accurately. A good attempt of 150 questions will get you through!

Strategies For Each Section of SSC CGL –

  • General Awareness and Discussion

You must read every day. This will definitely help you a lot in improving your vocabulary skills. Reading will help you in English section. But what should you read? In my view, reading a grammar book is not fruitful for English section of competitive exams. Try to follow NCERT books, Newspapers’ editorial sections etc. This will improvise your vocabulary, grammar as well as English. Try to read these subjects for sure:

  • Quantitative Aptitude

First of all, brush up your fundamentals in percentages, Interest and start calculating mentally daily. Forget your calculators and start following the BODMAS rule on your hand. Be an expert.

  • Reasoning SSC CGL books

While solving a number series question, if the numbers are changing rapidly keep in mind that some multiplication operation is used in that question else simple +/- is used.

When solving a direction based question, draw figure on paper, it will increase your accuracy and save time.

Try to avoid questions like “How many triangle/squares in this figure”, as said, this exam gives you only 36 seconds for 1 question. This type of puzzling questions will consume a lot of your time. Never go for time consuming questions.

In conclusion, you need to fix your timetable something like this:

2 hour- Reading (at least 50 pages)

2 hours- Practicing Mathematics

2 hours- Solving Online Test
