How to prepare for SSC CGL 2017 Hello Friends, We are sharing tips and strategy for SSC CGL 2017 by Prerna Srivastava Mam.Hope you like it and follow it. For SSC CGL aspirants 2017:

I have been getting many messages asking me to share my preparation strategy. Most of them are related to which books to follow. It becomes very difficult for me to answer all queries separately so I am writing this post. Let’s address everything separately subject wise.

MATHS:

The dreaded subject. I was weakest in this section when I started but with practice and gradually building concepts you can achieve your target. Now the question is what should be the target. Maths carries a weight-age of 250 marks in the whole selection process. I think out of 250, 210-230 is a realistic target and can be achieved. Maths is a very scoring subject and it is necessary to score in Maths if you want an interview post. Now lets talk strategy advance maths+profit and loss will make up for 50% of you paper. So most of your efforts should be directed towards these chapters. Har chapter ko utna hi attention do jitne marks ke questions usse aate rahe ho previously.

Books:
paramount/kd material for arithmetic+rakesh yadav advance maths(white cover wali)+sarvesh kumar verma+lucent higher maths+chapterwise
Hindi medium walo ke liye I have heard ki platform bht achi hai. English medium me iska sirf advance portion aata hai arithmetic nahi aata. Woh bhi kaafi acha hai.

ENGLISH:

Develop a habit of reading and don’t read any substandard book or material. Read a good newspaper and if you don’t understand it fully the first time read it twice-thrice. Reading helps in improving English. As far as English in SSC is concerned in mains active/passive,narration,PQRS and comprehension carry maximum weightage.

Books:
Neetu singh+SP Bakshi+MB Publication+Wren n Martin
Wren n martin is very good for grammar portion and SP Bakshi is very good for voices and narration.

REASONING:

This is the part which requires the least amount of effort. Do previous year practice sets that should be enough.

Books:
Paramount/KD material for reasoning+previous years papers book

GS:

It is most difficult to score in this section. Kitna bhi padh lo marks ka kuch keh nahi sakte kitne aaenge. Also marks me bht variation hota hai isme eg: ek mock doge toh 5 number aaenge doosra doge toh 15 aaenge. You will never know ki taiyari exactly kha tak pohchi. Don’t try learning all previous years question because iss section me it doesn’t help.

Books:
newspaper+Lucent GK that’s it

Mains ke liye mock tests are very important and so are previous years papers. Don’t prepare for mains after prelims. This is a mistake which I had made in 2015 that’s why I am saying this. Pre ke time hi apni eng+maths ki taiyari ko mains level tak pochane ki koshish karo isse pre ka eng+maths section toh acha hoga hi plus pre ke baad you will be one step ahead of others in terms of preparation aur baaki sabki tarah panic nahi hoga tumhe.

If you found this helpful share it with people who might find it useful. If have any more questions leave it in the comments below.
All the Best to everybody hopefully the notification will be out soon. Keep the preparation going 🙂
