Job Profile & Work Nature of Postal Assistant under SSC CHSL Exam

Hello Friends

We are sharing Job profile of PA/SA in postal department shared by DitiKrishna Das .Hope you like his efforts. Please share and care others.

The post of Assistant in the department is of two types, PA and SA. Hence the advertisements mostly show PA/SA or PASA.
PA: Postal Assistants
SA: Sorting Assistants
PAs are posted in a certain post office. This post office may be situated in a town or a remote area. PAs collect mail bags from the mail motor and dispatch the same. Distribution is not their work.
PAs have less offs and less freedom as far as getting offs is concerned. As long as one of the PAs from another post office doesn’t show up, whatever may be the emergency, you can’t leave.

SAs work in shifts. 6 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 10 pm and 6 pm to 6 am. The latter shift has 12 hours in it. If you take the night shift you will have to work every alternative night. Actually, after 6pm, every one hour is calculated as 1 hour 20 minutes. So, 6 hours, from 6pm to 12 midnight is equal to 8 hours and 12 midnight to 6 am is another 8 hours. So, in a night shift, your work profile is credited with 16 hours of work, thats 2 shifts of day shift, right? Hence, every alternative night shifts.
SAs get posted only in the railway stations with a RMS in it. So, their posting place has a better connectivity and most probably has better amenities like electricity.
SAs have a work cycle of 4 weeks. 7days x 4 weeks.
As you have one day off every week, you get 4 offs on in a cycle. Now the best part, you can work for consecutive 12 days and take two days off, or work 18days with three days off. So you can visit your home once in a month.
Plus, you can opt to take the off on any day of the week. You can choose to work on sunday and take the tuesday off and can deal with all the official works.

Salary of PAs and SAs are equal, except for the HRA.
My current net salary is 21.6k.
I am a SA.
I can avail a festival allowance every 10 months amounting 4500 and no interest will be charged for this. A deduction of 450 will be made from my salary for 10 months.
Once in a year, a circular is blown with 30k allowance on loan from the department for bike and up to 25k for a laptop.
SA is the best job for you if you want a decent income and prepare for other exams. like CGL or UPSC.
But people over here discuss a lot about almost vague things in the world and you will really hate the work atmosphere. You need to be content in yourself.
If you are through, just get a place to stay little away from the RMS.
