For aspirants who are sending their representations to the SSC for making the tier-I exam of CGL-16 as qualifying, and other aspirants as well I want to clarify that SSC through a RTI query regarding this issue has clarified on 23.09.2016 that it will not at all be qualifying and the marks scored in it will be added to the final merit. Some candidates’s view is that SSC has a right to make it qualifying according to the contents of the advertisement of the exam. But I want to tell them that SSC issued a corrigendum stating the CGL-16 exam scheme only after that advertisement, leading the content of the exam scheme mentined in the advertisement of the exam to be null and void. According to this corrigendum the final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III.
