SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam experience 27-08-16 morning shift
Getting around 175** 😛
We were given a room to keep our bags. As everyone comes out of the exam lab at same time so it is quite safe…less chances of someone taking out your stuff.
No arrangement to keep mobile phones…in some exams phones are kept with the invigilator in the exam lab only and in some exams (LIC AAO i think) authorities put slips on phones and keep it with them safely but not in my exam center…a guy had to keep his phone in my bag.
ATM card, bike keys, water bottle, pens: not allowed. (I know of my exam center only) On entering the exam lab our photograph was clicked and thumb impression taken digitally.
Within the allotted exam lab we were allowed to sit anywhere we wanted.
I then went to the washroom…No water was coming in washroom 😛 I proceeded towards the water cooler but they said ‘pani nahi hai’ 😀
I came back to the exam lab and took a round of the lab (lab had some desks in the center also so I was going in a circle) One male invigilator said “kya ho rha hai?!!!!!” I said I am looking for a big sized monitor. All monitors were small sized about 14-15″ only 🙁
We were then given a hard copy of instruction manual, same instructions available on SSC site.
One invigilator asked me to remove my glasses and keep them outside. I said these are power glasses (specs) and I need them. He had me remove them and checked them if they really were power glasses…my power is 0.75 only and he was in doubt…he then asked me for a medical certificate to prove that they really were power glasses 😛 and also made the same announcement for everyone in the lab. I said it was nowhere mentioned that we could not bring our glasses, he picked up my admit card and was searching for instructions but I had only the first page of the admit card with me, didn’t get the other pages printed 😛 he went to look for instructions and I didn’t see him again 😛
Attendance sheet signed, commissions’s admission certificate signed.
We were given 1 rough paper and 1 pen which would work only when held vertically, if you tilt it then it won’t work 😛
First we gave a sample test of 5 questions by logging in with our roll no. and DOB…sare buttons tag, de-tag, erase, etc chlake dekhliye. These 5 questions were hard economics questions :/
Then after the end of this test the real test automatically started. (The password that is printed on admit card was not required anywhere)
Questions were sorted section-wise but there were no special buttons to go to a particular section and our performance couldn’t be checked section-wise.
I noticed when I clicked on ‘next question’ or ‘previous question’, the next questions didn’t come ‘instantly’. It took a ‘moment’.
As I mentioned our monitor size was small so I had to ‘scroll’ in some questions like in comprehension (first question pe to pura niche tak scroll hi nahi hua, next question pe gya tab jake niche ka passage dikhayi diya, mai to invigilator ko bulane vala tha), DI bar chart question I had to scroll to the top to see what numbers were written on top of bars and then scroll to the bottom to see those numbers were for A or B etc. and I used to forget that the scroll works only with scroll button on mouse, if I click on scroll bar and drag it then it wouldn’t work. And then I also realized these questions had some error…in questions pe mera flow bhi khrab hua aur time bhi. A, B, C, D, E state k eletrification vale DI k questions me garbar thi na?
monitor size, scroll problem, slow transition to next questions cost me some marks in this exam apart from my own slow speed. I had ‘tagged’ about 12-15 questions to revisit later but couldn’t 🙁
