SSC CGL 2014 Interview Experience Part 53

Hello Friends,
We are sharing with you interview experience of Baazigar |

Board G. NR Region Delhi.
I was the third Last candidate. Bell rings.

Knock, then open.
3 males M1, M2,  Ch  and 1 Female
Ch: Aap Kanpur se hain. Bataiye kuchh waha k baare me.
Me: Sir Kanpur is the largest city of UP in terms of population. Also the Most Industrialised.
Ch: Is ya was?
Me: Sir Power ki wajah se kai industries band ho gyi hain par chemicals k field me waha par growth ho rahi hai wapas se ab.
Ch nodding.
Me: Also it is called the Manchester of East.
Ch: Are Bhai is ya was?
Me: Yes sir(?) Sir it is famous for leather and tanning industries and also the genre of Nautanki theatre is said to be originated from here.
Ch: You have not taken part in any sports activity?
Me: Sir school me I was in roller skating team.
Ch: certificate?
Me: Sorry sir. School k time k certificates nahi hain.
Ch: Aapne 5 year integrated course kiya hai. Ye kya hota hai. Kis stream me kiya hai?
Me: Sir, its a five year course at the end of which we get a master’s degree. My stream was Industrial chemistry. It was designed to produce engineers which can act as a bridge between R &  D divisions and the Industrial Plants.
Ch: Isn’t it more a management problem then? How does a chemist fit here?
Me: Sir in lab we can use costly chemicals and the product is synthesized in a test tube. But when the process is stepped up to produce tons of product, an industrial chemist is needed to source the cheapest raw material as a substitute for use in the plant and the most economical reactor design to get the maximum yield.
Bechare bade pareshan the mere course ko leke sab.
M1: To agar aap 5 ki jagah 4.5 saal me chhod de to kuchh nhi milega?
Me: Sir jo seekha wo to kahi nhi ja sakta par haan, degree nhi milegi. (Everybody laughs). Actually sir in our college there are two kinds of five year courses. One is dual degree where you get both B. Tech and M. Tech and one is Integrated where you get only M. Tech at the end of five year.
Chairman ko abhi bhi Ashcharya ho rha tha.
Ch: Aapne kaun kaun se courses kiye hain.
Me: Sir,  initially to basic chemistry rehta hai but after third year we had Drug Design, Nuclear Chemistry,  Environmental chemistry, Waste Management,  Industrial Organic Synthesis etc..
Ch: (To mam) Aap poochhiye.
F : Kanpur me leather tanneries kaafi hain. Isse koi negative impact padta hai?
Me: Yes mam. Tanneries se jo effluent release hota hai usme chromium ki quantity kaafi jyaada hoti hai. Ganga kinaare hone ki wajah se nadi pradooshit hoti hai.  Second and more harmful effect is ground water pollution.
F: How?
Me: Mam,  Jab State pollution control board ne tannery walo ko efffluent treatment kiye bina nadi me paani chhodne se mana kiya to unhone ground water me reverse boring shuru kar di. Is wajah se 5-6 square kilometre area k aquifers contaminate ho gye hain. Ab us area k logo ko paani khareed k peena padta hai aur ground water kisi kaam ka nahi raha.
F: Okay.  Aapne waste treatment par course kiya hai. Tell me clearly what are the steps involved in waste water treatment.
Me: Mam waste water treatment is a three step process.  Primary Secondary and Tertiary. In primary we treat the suspended impurities through processes like gritting, suspension..
(She was expecting more)
Me: In secondary we use biological agents which consume the organic impurities dissolved in the water.  It involves activated sludge method and..  (forgot …  Regained composure)
If we need to reuse the water for domestic purpose and not just leave it as effluent we imply tertiary methods. It involves use of methods like membrane separation,  RO, ion exchange etc.
F: Tell me clearly the difference between Activated Sludge method and Trickling filter method.
I couldn’t understand the word ‘trickling’. Asked again. Still couldn’t get it. Started answering anyway.
Me: In Activated Sludge method we use outside biological agents which in presence of oxygen, decompost organic impurities.
(Here I got blank.  Asked to give me 5 seconds.  They said please take your time)
Me: Sorry mam. I know this much.
F: What is sludge here?
Me: Sorry mam I can not recall right now.
F: And what about tri&#$ling filter method.
I still couldn’t get it.
Me: Sorry mam.  Never heard of it.
F: Its okay. Aapke city me jo sewage treatment plant hai use kaun operate karta hai?
Me: Mam Kanpur Nagar Nigam.
F: No. There is an organisation in Nagpur which does this kind of work. Can you name it?
Me: Sorry mam. However,  after the launch of Namami Gange Project there is a nationwide thrust to contain sewage disposal in Gangaji.
F: Told some organisation name. What about this?
Me: Sorry mam.  I have not heard about it.
Madam ne to hanste hanste le li.
Now next member who asked me earlier.
M1: Aap theatre me ruchi rakhte hain. Tell me name of some actors who have a theatre background.
Me: Naseeruddin Shah, Nawazuddin Siddiqui,  Rajpal Yadav,  Om puri,  Seema Biswas,  Shabana Azmi, Yashpal….
M1: (smiling) Theek hai theek hai.
M1: You also listen to Ghazal. Tell me the difference between Ghazal and Shayari.
Me: Sir shayri zaroori nahi hai ki gaane k purpose se likhi jaaye.  Agar tuk ban rha ho aur dil ko sukoon de to shayri ban jaati hai. Par agar usi ko sangeet aur Raagon se achhi si dhun me piro de to wo ghazal ban jaati hai. Ghulam Ali saab is field ki sabse badi shakhsiat hain.
M1: Aur kuch?
Me: Sir I cant recall anything else.
M1: Aapka 1 research publication bhi hai.  What is this?
Me: Sir maine M. Tech thesis me jo kaam kiya tha us par mere guide ne aur aage kaam karwa kar paper publish kiya hai. I am also named in one the authors.
M1: What is it?
Me: Explained nicely.
M1: What is your first choice.
Me: Told
M1: Why?
Me: Told.
M1: You live in Ber sarai in Delhi. Any reason why it is named so?
Me: Can I take a guess?
M1: Yes.
Me: Sir this whole area  consist of many sarais such as katwaria sarai,  Kalu sarai,  Lado sarai etc.. Since it is located near Siri Fort,  I think due to the market reforms introduced by Alauddin khilji, there must have been lots off traders and caravans coming to this area. Since they needed a place to rest these sarais must have come up then.  Regarding Ber Sarai I think it must be due existence of lot of Ber trees or maybe an old Ber tree. (common sense wala guess tha). He seemed satisfied.
Now again back to chairman.
Ch: Aapne drug design ki baat ki. Patent se aap kya samajhte hain?
Me: Started answering but interrupted..
Ch: India me kaun kaun se patent allowed hain? Product ya process?
Me: Sir dono allowed hain.  Par process patent ko lekar kuchh guidelines hain India being signatory of TRIPs under WTO.  Then explained TRIPs and WTO doha round.
Ch: Is it fair that somebody is putting so much effort and money in R &  D aur aap fir reverse engineering kar k usko aadhe daam par beche?
Me: Sir we have to maintain balance between corporate interests and welfare of people. Explained “Ever greening” done by multinationals and Glivec case. Aise me Indian governemnt ne manufactures ko chhoot de rakhi hai within WTO guidelines.
Ch: India me kaun banata hai ye drugs?
Me: Sir Generic drug manufacturers. (He was still not convinced).
Ch: Suppose I have to go from Baba Khadak singh Marg to CP. And after much labour I find a route. And tomorrow somebody from (some place) wants to go to CP using my route to meri mehnat bekaar ho gyi na.
Me: Confused expression ( Bhai ye kya bol rha hai)
Ch: I am just giving you a crude example.
Me: Yes sir I get you. Can I use your example to put forward my point?
Ch: Sure.
Me: Sir your monopoly over the route will be only for a fixed period right?
Ch: Absolutely.
Me: Now after end of that period if you do a minor alteration in the route saying main is gali se nhi us gali se jaunga and claim monopoly of same route and toll everybody for next ten years then it is wrong.
Ch: Thank you. (smiling). I think that will be all. You may go now. All the best.
Me: Thank you. Sir.

Afterthoughts: I think it went pretty well although they seemed to be in hurry because no cross questioning. Civil Services preparation helped me in GS questions.
