I have received several queries regarding eligibility for the post of Statistical Investigator in CGL 2014. The Corrigendum issued by the SSC on 14.02.2014 prescribes the following qualification.
“Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard level:
Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level”.
Therefore either the eligible candidate shd be any graduate with 60% or more in Mathematics at the Higher Secondary Examination or he should be a graduate in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
In the past Statistics ‘subject’ had been taken as just a paper in any year of the degree. It will be appropriate for candidates with a degree in any subject with Statistics as a paper in any of the three years of degree to take Paper III and let SSC decide on eligibility. Those with any degree and 60% or above marks in HS Exam are definitely eligible irrespective of whether they had Statistics at the degree level or not.
