My CPT experience:
Venue: Local Governance, Janakpuri, New Delhi.
Time: 10:30 am
– Reached the venue 1 hour earlier.
– At 10 am, an MTS came and allowed us inside the institute after checking call letter and valid ID proof. So one must reach the venue at least 40 mins early.
a) Formalities (40mins): The staff called name of the students and collected the roll (2 page sheet) and gave a form to fill—- left thumb impression, sign, pasting a photo, etc etc … and finally allotted a batch to be pasted on your jacket..An instructor came and told us d rules and norms to follow while typing, excel, ppt exercises.
b) DEST (20mins): Firstly, a rough sheet was given to acclimatize to new keyboard…luckily I got d best keyboard.. a new one…of Dell…most of the keyboards are old and short shift keys.. also the keys are hard to press so you have to see the screen whether the character is actually entered or not.. but it’s not the keyboard to acclimatize with… it is d environment… mere pass ek kanya baithi thi jo khud to panic ho rahi thi aas pass walo ko bhi panic kar rhi… kabhi paani, kabhi keyboard change…etc so its better to concentrate and not to talk with neighbors even if dey need help.. just tell them to ask the staff. After 2 minutes of rough work… actual test begin… one should not click the ‘actual test’ button until you receive a hard copy of dest paragraph.. some people did this mistake… there is no revert option… dey lost 1-2 mins.. The para was regarding financial investments and savings.. I think it was taken from Economic Survey 2013-2014. After 15 mins.. the print of your typing was given to you to sign and to write 2 lines in running handwriting.
c) Excel (20 mins): Unlike dest, the timing calculations of excel and ppt is manual… ms 2007 was used. It was easy.. simple addition, multiplication formulas to be used. A footer having your name and roll number, date time with arial format was to be inserted. Then same thing.. the print was given to you and you have to sign it to assure that it’s yours.
d) PPT (20 mins): Very simple.. Format was- Title: verdana 40, bold; Subtitle: verdana 24; footer- ur name, roll no., date and time with arial 20 font. There was border outside the sub title text. The print was given to you and you have to sign it to assure that it’s yours. That’s it, I was free at 12:15 pm
